Summary

DNV Global Energy Concepts is seeking a Wind Power Project Engineer for our downtown Seattle, Washington office. In this role you will participate in due-diligence assessments for investors on proposed and existing wind power facilities. Responsibilities

  • Evaluate feasibility of projects from a variety of perspectives (for example, location, wind resource, turbine selection, turbine layout, cost, construction schedule and project arrangement)
  • Review and assess technical risk in commercial contracts for the purchase of power, supply of wind turbines, and operation and maintenance services
  • Review project pro forma models
  • Coordinate input from other team members for use in reports
  • Visit and evaluate operating and proposed wind power facilities
  • Write and review technical reports
  • Effectively communicate with clients on the impacts of various terms and risks of the contracts and conditions
  • Interact directly with clients, including educating clients regarding methods and results, presenting a professional company image to clients by email, phone, and in person, and identifying where additional services may be offered
  • Contribute to and foster a collaborative, congenial work environment
  • Present, and in some cases defend, findings to clients
  • Share and continuously develop knowledge and best practices
  • Demonstrate interest and ability to continuously learn
  • Help with other tasks as assigned

Education and Experience

  • College degree in engineering (preferred) or other technical field. Masters degree preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of practical, related experience, preferably in the wind energy industry. Additional experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical abilities required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Ability to perform detail-oriented, critical reviews of technical documentation
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships and work effectively and professionally with diverse people – clients and colleagues
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs (principally Outlook, Word, Excel, Access)
  • Proposal writing and consulting background a plus
  • Economics and project finance experience a plus
  • Familiarity with mapping software and concepts a plus

Physical Reqiurements

  • Regular (up to approximately 25% of work time) domestic and international travel to other company office locations, site locations, client offices, and conferences required
  • Occasional work outdoors in harsh conditions including but not limited to climbing stairs and ladders to ascend wind turbines, looking up to view towers, traveling by car up to six hours and walking on uneven terrain
